Margaret Joanne Crotchett Woollen, 87, of Charles Town, WV, passed away on October 18, 2021 under the dedicated supportive care of Shenandoah Genesis Center and Hospice of the Panhandle. Her family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff for the provided care.

She was born December 16, 1933, in Denver, CO to the late Clair and Myrtle Crotchett.

She spent most of her life in the Washington D.C. area, graduating from George Washington University in Economics. Her career spanned over 50 years, retiring from Cannon USA as a government contract auditor at age 72.

Being creative and artistic, she owned and operated Maja's, a couture design studio in the 1960s in Bethesda, MD. Her second passion was music and the performing arts, which led her to her love and husband, musician and composer, Russell Woollen.

She is survived by John Shepherd and wife Jane Montgomery of Denver, CO, and their children Eliza Shepherd, Justine Beckstrom, Jackie Shepherd and Austin Shepherd; Dr. Stephen Shepherd and wife Carrie of Santa Ana, CA and their children Stephanie Warner and Stacy Keligian; Dr. Deborah Shepherd of Greenville, MI and her children William and Benjamin Van Doren; Carolyn Cross and husband Ken of Harpers Ferry, WV and their children Katie, Amanda and Aimee Gorham, Kendra Ranshaw and Jami Cross; Christina Woollen Freidoff and husband Frank of Brunswick, MD; 9 great grandchildren and loving nieces Barbara Reuter, Nancy Snively and Trish Laub of the Denver area and Robbie Buell of Arizona.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth Jean Moore and grandson Dean Shepherd.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Chaplain Tony Peroni officating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at noon at NorbeckMemorial Park in Olney, MD.
