Marvin 'Buzzy' Gervous Jackson, Jr, 56 of Harpers Ferry went HOME on Tuesday, April 24, 2024. Buzzy was born September 21, 1967 in Leesburg Virginia to Marvin Gervous Jackson, Sr. and E. Gail (Orrison) Jackson.
He began his lifelong dedication to baseball at the age of 8 when he began playing for the Blue Ridge Lions, Millville Giants and many all-star teams for the Potomac Little League. He played legion ball for Martinsburg Blue Sox, Hagerstown Braves, Charles Town Phillies and the Brunswick Orioles.
He graduated from Jefferson in 1985, Hagerstown Community College in 1987 and Francis Marion University in 1990. He received many academic and baseball accolades during these years. Upon graduating, he was a volunteer pitching coach at Jefferson High (1993-2009), Washington High (2010-2018) and Martinsburg High (2018-2024).
He was a current member of the Mustang Baseball Club, an elite over 50 amateur baseball team. Over the years, he won 5 Amateur Baseball World Series and was inducted into National Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class of 2014. He continued to pitch until the day he left this world.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Marvin Sr.
In additional to his mother, Gail, he is survived by his daughter, Mallory Skuban (Micah), Marvin III and Dennis (Raeann), his grandson, Denver Skuban who was the apple of Pops' eye and his ex-wife, Denise.. He also survived by his sisters Bessie Nelson, Mara Clauson (Kent) and brother, Tim (Marlena) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
He is now playing for the Angels on the Field of Dreams.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 17, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV. A fellowship luncheon will be provided by the Martha Mary Ministry following the service in the Social Hall.
