Obituary

Mary Josephine "Mary Jo" Hough Robertson, 89, of Sunrise, Florida, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 at her home surrounded by her three sons.

Born December 6, 1931, at Federal Hill Farm, near Harper's Ferry, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd S. Hough and Mary Virginia Andes Hough.

Mary Jo graduated from Harper's Ferry High School and Shepherd College. She attended St. John's Episcopal Church in Harpers Ferry.

Mary Jo is survived by three sons, Dr. Timothy Scot Robertson (Karen) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Samuel Keith Robertson (Karla) of Miami, Florida; and William Kent Robertson (Maureen) of Winter Park, Florida; seven Robertson grandchildren Andrew, Emily, Matthew, Sienna, Taylor, Dylan and Natalie; her sister, Shirley Hough Caniford (James) of Harper's Ferry and nieces Jayne Mumaw, Anne Wood, Lynn Pogue and nephew Josh Caniford.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William G. Robertson, two brothers Eugene and Lloyd Hough, and one sister Phoebe Anne Hough Shaffer.

Mary Jo was an avid reader retiring as a passionate owner of The Book Trader, known for its "Whale of a Deal",  bookstore in Port Charlotte, Fl. In her early years she worked for the Justice Department in Washington, DC and traveled extensively with her husbands career teaching elementary education and raising her 3 sons.  In her spare time she loved to knit and enjoyed tending to her orchids and her cats.

Graveside services will be held in the spring of 2022, at Harper Cemetery in Harper's Ferry, WV, with the Rev. John Unger officiating.
