Matthew D. Gozdan, 49, sadly passed away on December 7, 2023 at his home in Charles Town, West Virginia. Matthew was born on August 9, 1974 in Massillon, Ohio. He served in the US Army for 8 years and then worked for the US Government as a contracted IT Specialist.  He was recently retired as an IT Specialist for NIH.

He is survived by his wife, Courtney (Shatzer) Gozdan of Charles Town, W.V. and his son Sean of Belgium. Other survivors include his Father-in-law, Bruce Shatzer, Mother-in-law, Carolyn Shatzer and his brother-in-law, Weston.  Along with many relatives.

He is also survived by his parents, Robin & Mimi Gozdan, brothers Mike (Sara), Mark (Carrie), Grandmother, Alice Scharver and numerous relatives. Preceded in death by his grandparents: Charles Scharver, Stephen and Connie Gozdan.

Funeral arrangements will be handled by Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home of Harpers Ferry, WV. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.  In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or your special charity.
