Mattie Virginia West, 75, of Charles Town, WV passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025 at her residence.

Born June 20, 1949 in Ranson, WV, she was the daughter of the late William L. Smoot and Theresa Knotts Smoot.

She was a member of Mission Tabernacle Holiness Church.

Mattie was an avid reader and especially loved American history. She also loved vacationing with her family in the Smokey Mountains.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard "Wayne" West, who she married October 23, 1976, two sons, Darrick W. West and wife, Stacy of Martinsburg, WV and Chad A. West and wife, Faye of Kearneysville, WV,  grandchildren, Hunter West and wife, Jill, Haley West, Havannah West and Connor West, siblings, Ronnie Smoot and wife, Cheryl, Donnie Smoot, Shirley Smoot, Peggy McNutt, Judy O'Bryan and husband,  Geoff, Annie Smoot and Debra Parker and husband, Bill.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Markee, brother-in-law, Michael McNutt and adopted brother, Gary Smallwood.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Mission Holiness Tabernacle Church, 446 Mission Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Sam Snow and Pastor Paul Markee officiating. Interment will follow at Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town, WV.

The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm.
