Maxwell D. Ballanger, 82, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 in Winchester Medical Center.

He was born June 16, 1939 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. He was the son of the late James David Ballanger and Ruth Thompson Ballanger.

Max was raised in Houlton, Maine and graduated from Husson University in 1961.

He was a career systems accountant for 31 years for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Max enjoyed camping with family and friends, bluegrass music, grilling, bowling and helping any who crossed his path. He enjoyed the National Bowling Tournament and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Harpers Ferry; three daughters, Kim Perkoski of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Lynn Trent of  Westminister, MD and Kelly Ballanger, of Beltsville, MD; brother, Gary Ballanger (Mary) of Bancroft, ME; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by former wife, Eleanor Winslow Ballanger and sister, Judith Dayment.

Services will be private.
