Michael Jan Hood, 78, of Harpers Ferry, WV, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Winchester Medical Center.

Born October 21, 1943, in Sacramento, California, he was the son of the late Edith Hood.

Michael retired as a printer from McGraw Hill in Washington, DC.

He was of the Christian faith.

Michael was raised in Ronceverte, WV. He had a passion for bluegrass music, enjoyed playing the guitar and banjo, and was proud to be from Greenbrier County. He will be missed by his close friends at their twice-weekly lunches.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Eileen; two daughters, Rebecca Hall and husband, Brian, of Harpers Ferry, and Martha Hood of Harpers Ferry; five grandchildren, Rosalie, Liam, and Kiah Hall, Allegra Walker, and Abigail Wethington; one brother, Thomas Hood, and wife, Charlie, of Charles Town; one sister, Carole Lamenza of Seaford, DE, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Hood, sister, Barbara Moore, and niece, Susan Hood.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 8, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Harpers Ferry, WV.

The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Thursday evening from 6-8 PM.
