Mildred C. Brooks, 94, of Shepherdstown, WV passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility in Kearneysville, WV.

Born December 6, 1929 in Bluefield, WV she was the daughter of the late Ada and Gilmore Crowder.

After graduation she worked for GTE as a telephone operator. She moved to Shepherdstown where she was a housewife and loving mother for 18 years and then went on to work at Jefferson Security Bank for 40 years, until age 90.

Mildred was an active member of Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church. She also volunteered for the Shepherdstown Fire Department fundraisers.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Hilliard and husband, Terry, nephew, Steve Coon and wife, Sue, niece, Kelly Druggish and husband, Rick and numerous great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Hazel Sarver and husband, Willie, Edna Clendening and husband, Charlie and brother, Bob Crowder and wife, Frances.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. Dr. Forrest Cummings officiating, assisted by Lorelei George. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown, WV.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Wesley United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown Fire Department or Animal Welfare of Jefferson County.
