Norman grew up in the Frederick and Walkersville areas. He was on the first Glade Valley little league team in 1952 and graduated from Walkersville High School in 1959. After graduation he joined the Maryland State Police as a trooper for 4 years. As a trooper he met his wife of 55 years Nancy Grams McBride. They built a home in Glen Haven on the Potomac River that he was very proud of.
After leaving the Maryland State Police Norman went to work at Eastalco where he retired after 32 years in 1999. He then drove a truck for 3 years before enjoying his retirement sitting in his chair overlooking the view of the river watching the hummingbirds with his wife Nancy, his caregiver daughter Kelli and grandson Kalvin all by his side. He loved nothing more than hearing about his grandsons’ adventures in school and sports. They brought him so much pride and joy. He loved getting visits from Kirk and Kaleb from NC. He was very into current events, and watching football with Kalvin. He was a member of the Harpers Ferry Masonic Lodge, Logan Lodge No. 25 AF & AM and former member of the Brunswick Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Brunswick Moose Lodge.
