Obituary

Pamela "Pam" Denise Fravel (Staubs), 66, of Charles Town, passed over to the other side on November 4, 2026, at Jefferson Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Born September 13, 1960, in Ranson, WV, Pam was the daughter of Delma and the late Harold Staubs. She was of Methodist faith.

Pam worked for Jefferson County Schools for 30+ years, retiring in 2022. She began at T.A. Lowery Elementary School as a transportation aide before transferring to C.W. Shipley Elementary School as a clerical aide in 1999. During her time at C.W. Shipley, she was affectionately known as "Ms. Pam" by teachers, staff, students, and parents. Since her passing, many have spoken of her incredible kindness, her sweet smile and hello to every person who entered the office, and how she would sing Happy Birthday to students on their birthday.

Many may not know, but before her hands became too difficult to use steadily, Pam loved to draw. It wasn't uncommon for her husband and children to find her doodles beside the notes in the notebooks she left on the kitchen table. Her artistic talent shone at T.A. Lowery Elementary School, where she drew and painted the two large wooden terrier signs still used at the school today.

Pam enjoyed a simple life. She was content playing her favorite online puzzle games or completing puzzle books and crossword puzzles. She loved cooking and making desserts. Her dirt cake was one of her most requested desserts for get-togethers, and she often needed two pans because one was never enough. If she weren't working on puzzles or cooking, you would find her comfy on her couch, watching episodes of Roseanne or The Waltons that she'd seen hundreds of times.

Above all, Pam loved her family fiercely, and it was the most important part of her existence. She spent her life caring for those close to her, from Saturday trips to town to grocery shop with her mother to sitting by the pool with her family, with her cellphone out, recording videos of her grandchildren jumping off the diving board. She attended every band and choir performance for her three children as they grew up, cheered at every Little League baseball game her son participated in, and never said no to any request from her children to go to the movies, a friend's house, or take a ride. Being a grandmother was the most cherished part of her life. Her first grandson, Aidan, gave her the name "Boo" as her "grandma name," which all her grandchildren later used. Her face would light up every time she heard that name called for her. She loved her family until her last breath.

Pam is survived by her husband of 47 years, Melvin (Marc); two daughters, Stephanie Morton (John) and Sarah Dunlap (William); one son, Corey Fravel (Brandy); two brothers, Louie Staubs and Greg Staubs (Becky); one sister, Patricia; and her mother, Delma. She is also survived by her four grandsons: Aidan Harris, Liam Dunlap, Jacob Dunlap, and Hudson Fravel; one granddaughter, Sarah Morton; and one great-granddaughter, Vivienne Morton-Thomsen, as well as numerous loved family members.

Pam was preceded in death by her father (Harold), one brother (Robert), mother-in-law (Frances), father-in-law (Melvin), sister-in-law (Angie), and numerous aunts and uncles.

Pam was loved by many and will be missed tremendously.

A memorial service is to be held Saturday, November 28, 2026, at 11 AM, at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV, with Pastor Howard Martin officiating.

A gathering will be held immediately afterward at Bolivar Community Center, 60 Panama St., Bolivar, WV.
