Paula Renee Payne, loving wife, mother, daughter, friend and dedicated Registered Nurse, passed away Sunday October 10, 2021 in Myrtle Beach, SC at the age 55 due to complications from the corona virus.  She was born into this world on June 16, 1966 in Charles Town, WV, where she spent most of her life.

She is survived by her husband, Christopher Payne, and daughters, Mikaela and Cameron. She is also survived by her father Benny Pierson, father in-law Raymond Payne, brother in law Andy Payne and his daughter Bryce, sister in law Susan Locklear and her husband Hearbert Locklear along with their children Caleb, Saige and Katie. She also leaves her beloved dogs Zippy, Chloe and Rudie.

Paula was preceded in death by her mother Donna Pierson, mother in law Roberta Payne, and grandparents Meredith Exline, Charlotte Watkins, Dana Douglas and Nellie Frances Pierson.

Paula worked in healthcare for 34 years at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Medical Center and the VA Medical Center. She had an infectious personality, a contagious smile that could light up a room and never met a stranger. She was a friend to everyone she had the pleasure to meet. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, was very loving and compassionate and a friend to many.  Paula was a devoted fan of the Washington Nationals and rarely missed watching a game.

Services will be held at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Friday October 22, 2021 at 1:00pm. With Pastor Derick Amsler and Pastor Randy Coyle.  Visitation with family will take place 1 hour prior to the service. A gathering will be held after the service at the Charles Town Moose Lodge where Paula, Chris and Benny were active members.
