Obituary

Pearl R. Benjamin, 95, died at Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg, MD on April 11, 2024.

Born October 19, 1928 in Millville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ralph E. and Carrie Rickel.

Pearl was a graduate of Harpers Ferry High School, Class of 1946. She was an active member of the Methodist Church in the different areas she lived and also sang in the choir. She enjoyed golf, playing Bridge, traveling and most of all the company of her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Charles W. Benjamin of Gaithersburg, MD, daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and John Tierney of Naperville, Ill, son and daughter-in-law, Charles W. Jr. and Debbie Benjamin of Germantown, MD, four grandchildren, Kevin and Shelby Tierney of Lafayette, IN, Caitlin and Mathias DeLacey of Wheaton, ILL, Ryan and Shawn Benjamin of Germantown, MD, and two great-grandchildren, Charlotte Pearl DeLacey and Hugh Thomas DeLacey of Wheaton, ILL.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Payne, Catherine Rockenbaugh and Dorothy Rinaldi and three brothers, Ralph E. Rickel, Jr., Charles Rickel and Claude Rickel.

Pearl's family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 11:00 am. Private graveside services will follow at Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, WV.

A memorial service will be held at Asbury Methodist Village at a later date.
