Obituary

Peggy Charlene (Painter) Turner went to be with her Lord and Saviour, on Thursday, July 6, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Charles Russell and Lorene Rae Painter of Charles Town, WV

Peggy was a graduate of Charles Town High School. She was very active in her church and community, volunteering with numerous organizations, including "Meals On Wheels,"and other charitable groups. She also served her local community by assisting with election polls for many years. She was an avid bowler, enjoying membership in local leagues.

She was a life-long member of Asbury United Methodist Church, having begun her membership as a child, and serving her faith continuously.

Upon high school graduation, she was employed by the Badger Powhatan, brass foundry in Ranson, where she held a secretarial position. For many years she held the position of private secretary at Dixie Narco, Inc., also in Ranson. In later years, she was employed by the Bank of Charles Town.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert Turner, Jr., one son, Richard Lee Turner of PA., one daughter, Sheri (Turner) Fiorvanti of FL; two grandchildren, Angela Randolph and Britney Turner, both of PA;  four great-grandchildren, two siblings, sister, Nancy C. Engle of Kearneysville and brother, Eddie L. Painter of Inwood, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Turner and seven siblings, Dorothy Vorous, Maude Mercer, Smearman, Eva Peterson, Catherine Painter Stepp, Mildred Comer, Becky Deck and Charles R. 'Butch" Painter, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 110 W. North Street, Charles Town, WV with Pastor Duane Jensen officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 pm on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, www.parkinson.org , Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville. WV 25430 or Asbury United Methodist Church.
