Ray Lynwood Boyd, Sr., 84, of Ranson, WV passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Monday, January 8, 2024.

Born on December 18, 1939, in Charles Town, he was the son of the late Emma Mae Boyd.

Ray retired from Halltown Paper Board in 2004 after 38 years of service.  He was a true family man who worked all his life to take care of his family and others.  He opened his door to many who needed a place to stay or a hot meal.  Ray loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He was a member of Bolivar United Methodist Church.

Ray is survived by his 10 children, 7 sons and 3 daughters:  Ray Boyd, Jr. and wife, Cindy; Ronald Boyd and wife, Lisa; Brenda Whittington and husband, Kevin; Sherry Smith and husband, Brian; Robert Boyd and wife, Tammy; Misty Kidwell and husband, Clarence; Jeff Boyd and wife, Elisa; Kevin Boyd and wife, Amy; Michael Boyd and wife, Debi; & Mark Boyd and wife, Dawn; 1 brother, Robert Boyd; a special sister in law, Lil Boyd; 22 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Louise Boyd; mother, Emma Mae Boyd; daughter, Theresa Ann Boyd; brother, Donald Boyd; and sisters, India Mae Long & Yvonne Vanwestinburg.

We would like to thank Hospice for all their hard work and kindness throughout our father's illness.  Thank you to all his nurses - especially his special nurse, Shanna, and his two aides Kennedy & Kayla, who he adored.  They were Poppy's angels.  Any donations can be made to the Hospice of the Panhandle in our dad's memory.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. John Unger officiating.

Interment will follow in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town, WV.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, January 15, 2024 from 6-8 pm.
