Raymond Ward DeLawder, Jr.

Raymond Ward DeLawder, Jr., 79, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away at his residence on Friday, May 9, 2025, under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born August 29, 1945 in Charles Town, WV, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mabel DeLawder.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Louise (Longerbeam) DeLawder; a brother, Larry DeLawder; a sister, Nancy Royston and a granddaughter Ashlee Nicole Hargis.

He was a member of the VFW Post No. 3522 of Charles Town, WV.

He is survived by his sister, Debbie (Kevin) Weister of Harpers Ferry, WV; two sons Timmy Howard (Christina) DeLawder of Charles Town, WV; Randy Ward (Wendy) DeLawder of Charles Town, WV and one daughter, Penny Doreen (Robert) Hargis of Ranson, WV; six grandchildren, Nathan Andrew Lange of Oregon, Wisconsin; Stephanie Rose (Joshua) Musgrove of Fairmont, WV; Spencer Casey (Lauren) DeLawder of Ranson, WV; Mikayla Rae Hargis of Harpers Ferry, WV; Cassie Marie Hargis of Charles Town, WV and Cameron William Hargis of Ranson, WV. He is also survived by two great-children, Nolan Ryan Musgrove and Nash Spencer Musgrove of Fairmont, WV.

Services will be held on Wednesday May 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Scott J. Sassaman officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, WV.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m.
