Raymond “Gene” Eugene Wines, 80, of Harpers ferry, WV, passed away on August 2, 2026, at the Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

Born on October 14, 1945, in Charles Town, WV, he was the son of the late Edward and Louise Wines. He was a member of the Bolivar Pentecostal Church.

Gene was the owner and operator of the former Wines Exxon in Harpers Ferry. He was also a lifetime member of the Friendship Fire CO.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Angela Hill at home; two granddaughters, Jacquelyn Vile and husband, Jeremy, Evelyn Hill (Carter Shawyer- fiancé); three great-grandchildren, Clara, Paisley, Jaxton; one sister, Libby Carter; three brothers, Donald Harder, Sr., David Harder, June Bug Harder; three sisters-in-law, Nancy Palmer, Sharon Dockeney, Darlene Ott; and one brother-in-law, Rodney Ott.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife in 1997, Eleanor Grace Wines.

Services will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11:00 A.M., at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV, with Reverend B. G. Turner and Reverend Sam Miller officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg, WV.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
