Spaulding
November 17, 1942 – December 11, 2024
Robert Harold Spaulding, 82, of Middleway, WV died at home. Born November 17, 1942 in Pepperell, Massachusetts, he was the son of Robert Charles Spaulding and Blanche Josephine (Laporte) Spaulding of Shirley, MA.
He started at Ayer Corporation out of Massachusetts at a young age, which led him to live in Puerto Rico, Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia, where he bought a home and retired after 55 years.
He served in the US Navy and was a member of the American Legion for 51 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Elaine Helena Chesbrough Spaulding, brothers, George Spaulding, Richard R. Spaulding, Sr., Raymond R. Spaulding, sister, Joanne M. Gravell and son-in-law, David Williams.
He is survived by daughters, Christine M. Williams of Martinsburg, Bobbie Jo DeHaven and husband, Mark of Bunker Hill, sister, Susan B. Ashcroft of New Hampshire, granddaughters, Nicole M. Burns and husband, Nathan of Hedgesville, Billie Jo Williams and significant other, Albert Stafford of Martinsburg, grandson, Colby A. DeHaven of Bunker Hill, great grandchildren, Rylee Burns and Lainey Burns of Hedgesville.
He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time at his cabin, gardening, fishing, attending NASCAR races and watching every western show ever made on TV along with reading his western books every night before bed.
He enjoyed spending time with close friends, Junior Ricketts, Robert Kelley, Loki and Gary Clay.
He was loved by many. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and long time neighbors, the Browns and the Markley's.
Services will be private.
He and his wife made monthly donations to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital for several years, please consider donations to www.stjude.org
