Obituary

Ronald Eugene Winters of Charles Town, WV passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2024.

Born on Sept. 4, 1938 in Cumberland, Maryland, Ron was an all-star pitcher at Fort Hill High School. He graduated, turning down offers from the minor leagues, and chose going to college instead. From there he would go on to an esteemed career in the financial planning & investment industry.

Ron started his career. right from Strayer College, at Johnston Lemon in Washington, DC and retired from Morgan Stanley in 2009, with a conference room in the Frederick office being named in his honor by his colleagues.

Ron was a very accomplished gardener, an active member of the Charles Town Rotary Club and a Civil War enthusiast, spending hours relic-hunting with his best friend.

He is predeceased by his parents, Glenn and Rosella (Clay) Winters and his brother Glen Edward Jr.. He is survived by his wife Susan (Hedges), his son Scott, daughter Rhonda (Marciniak), stepson Michael (Walsh), stepdaughter Heather (Nick), ten grandchildren and eight, soon to be nine, great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 12:00 noon until the time of service.

The family is eternally grateful to the staff of Hospice of the Panhandle for their loving and exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
