Roy Edward Smoot, 73, of Charles Town, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at home.

Born January 12, 1952 in Ranson, WV, he was the son of the late Spencer and Alice Smoot.

He was a veteran of the US Army.

Roy was a member of Faith and Friends Global Methodist Church. He was construction foreman for 45 years. In his early years he loved playing softball, fishing and shooting pool. He loved spending time with his family, and most importantly, gave his life to God. His smile would light up the room. He was a wonderful provider for his family and had a heart of gold.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Cheryl, at home; two daughters, Cherie Reed and husband, Randy, Ragen Mahoney and husband, Chris; three sons, Eric Smoot and wife, Julia, Jeff Smoot and wife, Stephanie, Brent Smoot and wife, A.J.; sixteen grandchildren, Jadelyn, Chase, Alexis, Brayden, Declynn, Molly, Annabelle, Fisher, Jeff, Gavin, Keenan, Aiden, Kamery, Ian, Madalynn, Savannah; three great-grandchildren, Hazilyn, John, Bjorn; two sisters, Jenny Proctor and husband, Vernon, Bonnie McDonald and companion, Carroll Harder; three brothers, Charles Smoot, James Smoot and wife, Mary, David Smoot, along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Florence Smoot.

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425, with Pastor Bill Rowley officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
