Ruth Eleanor Daily (nee Mairose), 89, passed away on January 26, 2024 at home in Shepherdstown, WV.

Born August 9, 1934 in Covington, KY, she was the daughter of Albert F. and Martha M. Mairose of Covington, KY.

Ruth devoted her life to the care of children. Beginning in the 1960's, she ran a daycare from her home and in over thirty years of service, she cared for hundreds of children, many of whom stayed in touch with her long after they outgrew the need for childcare. In her later years, Ruth spent numerous hours reading novels by Nicholas Sparks, her favorite author. She was also an avid puzzler who enjoyed puzzles featuring birds and scenes from her favorite artist, Thomas Kincaid. Word search books were also kept close at hand to keep her occupied.

Ruth is survived by her children Larry Z. Daily and his partner Sandra Sheehan of Shepherdstown, WV; Zane J. Daily and his partner Ann Rezelman of Warrenton, VA; Kim T. Daily of Centreville, VA; John A. Daily of Louisa, VA; and Judith M. Hansen and her husband Michael of Chantilly, VA. Ruth is also survived by her grandchildren Benjamin P. Daily of Fairmont, WV and Lacey Kronander and her husband Kevin of Louisa, VA. and one great grandchild, Kendall Kronander. Ruth was preceded in death by her grandson Jonathan P. Daily.

A private celebration to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at a future date by her closest family members. Those wishing to honor her memory can do so by donating to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
