Obituary

Shirley Ann Himes Dayhoff, 90 of Sandy Hook, MD passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Williamsport Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born August 8, 1934, the youngest of 2 children, she was the daughter of the late John Truman Sr. and Annabelle Hartman Himes.

In 1955, Shirley met and married the love of her life Roland "Tommy" Dayhoff.

Shirley worked at Vindobona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for 42 years as an Assistant Activities Director, retiring at the age of 85.

She was happiest spending time with her family.  Shirley took great pleasure in sitting on the car port, rocking in her chair, watching the many varieties of birds that fed from the feeders.  She found joy and fulfillment in decorating her home for holidays, transforming her home into a festive space that brought her happiness and created special memories.

A special thanks to Earla "Butchie" Weaver, Charlene Montague, Keith and Robin Webber, Chris Canon and Brian Himes, whose kindness and generosity will be forever remembered and appreciated.

She is survived by son, William (Gene) Dayhoff and wife Teresa of Keedysville, MD; brother, John T. Himes Jr of Knoxville, MD; grandchildren Daphne Miller and husband Chris of Martinsburg, WV; Chris Canon and wife Luann of Knoxville, MD; Josh Gesell and wife Jill of Hagerstown, MD; Jen Fulfer and husband Mike of Greencastle, PA; Jerry Dayhoff and wife, Liz of Hagerstown, MD, Laura Myers of Hagerstown, MD; Jaime Walters of New York, NY, Will Dayhoff of Keedysville, MD; Emily Fear and husband Eddie of Keedysville, MD. And 25 great grandchildren.  Shirley was predeceased by her husband Roland Eugene Dayhoff.
