Obituary

Shirley Lorraine Ingram Ashbaugh, 88, of Knoxville, Maryland, passed away peacefully, at her home surrounded by loved ones.

She was born in Hagerstown, Maryland, on July 22, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Arnold Ingram and Margaret Mary Giffin. She was of the Methodist Faith

She had been a resident of this area her entire life. She was the last surviving member of her family's generation. Shirley was raised in Dargan, MD, spent her married life in Sandy Hook, MD and since her husband's death, at Valley Road.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a friend to all who knew and loved her. Shirley was a lifetime homemaker and loved caring for her home and family. She loved get-togethers with her family, especially holidays, birthdays, and really especially her own birthday.

She was a wonderful cook and loved making her delicious baked and fried bread.

She is survived by her four daughters, Debbie Short (Stephen), Lisa Poole (Darren), Sharon Wiles (Don), Roxann Reynolds (Mike); ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, including Kayden who lived with her his entire life.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Robert "Buddy" Ashbaugh; grandson, Matthew Perry; son-in-law, Lester (Butch) Poole; sisters Jaunita, Wileda, Jeanette and Rebecca; brothers, David, Daniel, Granville, James, Irvin and Joseph.

A special thanks to daughter, Roxann, whom Shirley lived with since the passing of her husband in 1995, and was her special caregiver, with loving assistance from her granddaughter, Megan and daughter, Lisa.

Services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Samples Manor Church of God, at 1 P.M., 2128 Harpers Ferry Road, Sharpsburg, MD 21782, with pastor Mary Garrot and associate pastor Gloria Staley officiating. Interment will follow at Samples Manor Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Ste 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
