Shirley "Woody" Woodrow Painter, 82, of Charles Town, WV passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021.

Born June 21, 1939 in Charles Town, WV, he was the son of the late Charles William Painter and Elsie Elizabeth Hardy Painter.

He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Woody was known to everyone as 'Pap'. He loved to talk about his childhood and family and was always full of jokes. He, his wife, Ann, and daughter, Beckie, were the first family in  the tri-state area to receive their GED together in 1994. Woody was also an avid Elvis fan and loved to watch the Lone Ranger.

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Tomlin of Ranson, WV; one granddaughter, Jessica Brown and husband, Billy of Martinsburg; one grandson,Walter Tomlin, II of Wyoming, Michigan, one sister, Dorothy Tomlin of Charles Town and one brother, Franklin Painter of Charles Town.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Painter,  his second wife, Verlie Painter and 15 siblings.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. Frank James officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery in Martinsburg, WV.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 pm.
