Steve Allen Smith, 94, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at his home.

Steve was born on December 24, 1929 in Spencer, WV. Son of the late George E. Smith and Mildred Nellis Smith Eismon.

Steve moved to Charles Town, WV in 1948 and graduated Charles Town High School in 1949. He attended Glenville State College, WV. Steve enlisted in the Army in 1950 and served during the Korean War until 1953. He worked for 30 years with the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government serving in the Executive Office of the President and FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency). Steve retired in 1987.

Steve was a member of the AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America).

For hobbies Steve has enjoyed restoring, showing and touring with the antique cars he and wife Nancy own. They also enjoy traveling.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Nancy Thompson Smith; two daughters, Stephanie Diedericks and husband Werner, of Charles Town, WV, Katherine Fadeley, of Charles Town, WV; one son, Steven "Syd" Smith and wife Renee, of Charles Town, WV; four grandchildren, Samuel, Daniel, Natalie, Leah; and one brother, Daniel "Danny" Eismon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Saint James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Drive, Charles Town, WV, with Father Timothy Grassi as Celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town, WV.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to Mass at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint James Catholic Church.
