Susie S. Frye, 85, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away December 27, 2025 at Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, WV.

Born October 30, 1940, in Lewisburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late William Harlen Kern and Veda Zell Chapman Kern.  She married Edward L. Frye, Sr., on April 12, 1957. They had three children, Martha Dignazio, Edward Frye, Jr. and Veda Pauline Frye.

Susie attended Charles Town High School. She got her GED and attended James Rumsey and got her LPN license. She worked in the health field for 22 years and then 13 years at Ranson Dairy Queen.

She was a lifetime member of the Charles Town Women of the Moose #1028. Susie attended Millville Pentecostal Church but was brought up in the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha Dignazio and Rick, her son, Edward and wife, Carmen, three grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and five great- great- grandchildren, nephews, Earl Dale Trice and wife, Carol, and Billy Ware, nieces, Sherry Richards and Penny Crum.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Frye, Sr., daughter, Veda Pauline Frye, four sisters, Rhoda Kern, Mary L. Trice, Louise Butts and Anna Pearl Ware, and three brothers, William (Billy), Alfred and Hickory A. Kern. She is the last of her immediate family.

Services will be held at 8:30 am on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Joe Brashear officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 6-8 pm with a tribute to be held by the Women of the Moose at 7:00 pm.
