Obituary

Todd Wayne Herbert

"Everybody's Favorite Uncle"

Todd Wayne Herbert, 59, of Charles Town, West Virginia, passed away

peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. He was born on December 5,

1966, to the late Anthony "Ted" Herbert, Sr. and Thelma Louise Newman Herbert.

Todd began attending House of Prayer Church of God in Charles Town, West

Virginia, at a very young age. Through the loving guidance of his parents and

grandparents, Max and Sarah Newman, he developed a strong foundation of

faith that remained with him throughout his life. He graduated from Jefferson

High School in Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia, in 1985 and later attended

Hagerstown Community College, where he studied Business Administration.

Todd was a hardworking, determined, and dedicated employee who proudly

served UPS in Chantilly, Virginia, for 25 years before retiring.

Affectionately known as "Everybody's Favorite Uncle," Todd never met a

stranger. His home was always open to family and friends, and he found great

joy in bringing people together through cookouts, family reunions, and gatherings

filled with laughter and love. His generosity knew no bounds. Throughout the

years, he welcomed countless relatives and friends into his home, offering them

not only a place to stay but also comfort, acceptance, and kindness. Even in his

own home, Todd was thoughtful and respectful, always making sure others felt

comfortable and cared for.

Todd's faith was the cornerstone of his life. Each morning before sunrise, he

dedicated time for prayer and worship, beginning his day with gospel music and

quiet devotion. One of his favorite gospel artists was Shirley Caesar, and he

especially loved her timeless song, "I Remember Mama."

Known for his quick wit (just like his father), and his warm, genuine smile, Todd

had a remarkable gift for making people laugh and feel welcome. His humor,

compassion, and selfless spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

Though he has departed this earthly life, we find comfort in knowing he has found

his eternal home in glory.

Todd is lovingly remembered by his beloved son, Joshua DeWayne Herbert, of

Charles Town, West Virginia; his siblings, Raymond Herbert, Melvina Ramirez,

Consuelo Shanton, Grace Herbert-Hughes, Lester Herbert, all of Charles Town,

West Virginia; Donna Mendoza of Oxon Hill, Maryland; and Cornell Herbert of District Heights, Maryland.

He also leaves behind his beloved nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart,

along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Todd was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony "Ted" Herbert, Sr. and Thelma Louise Herbert, as well

as his brothers, Clarence Smith, Anthony Herbert, Jr. and David Herbert.

Todd's legacy of faith, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts

of all who were blessed to know him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will forever

remain a source of comfort, inspiration, and joy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home,

256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Reverend Dr. Paul Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant

View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg, WV.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service for a viewing.
