Vinnie Nellie Belle Moyer [Hairston] Pinnix was born on July 6, 1932 in Ruffin, NC. She returned home with Jesus on January 25, 2018.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Tommy Clarence Hairston in 1954. To this union, God gave them one daughter, Clarise "Rita" Hairston Ottley.

In 1972, she married Carl Clayton Pinnix. Their union lasted for 38 years until he went home to be with Jesus in 2010. Through this union, she became Ma' Nellie to three sons and three daughters – Carroll, Anthony, Kenneth, Terresse, Deborah, and Miriam! She loved all of her children!

Her love was far reaching! There were many other young men and women whom she called son and daughter. They each felt loved by her. Robert "Doc" Douglas (Penny) of Philadelphia, PA was one of those recipients whom she loved and called son for 44 years!
Although she worked many years in various capacities, enjoying each new challenge and opportunity each job provided, her greatest joy was in her role as mother, grandmother and great grandmother! Her presence and impact in the lives of her friends and family will be greatly missed!

In addition to her parents, Robert Pleasant Moyer and Irene Helen Ruby (Baize) Moyer, and husband Carl Pinnix, she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Alford "Al" H. Ottley, and brothers, Eugene Hayes, Joe Louis and Spencer Ray.

She leaves to morn her loss her daughters, Clarise "Rita" Hairston Ottley of Martinsburg, WV; Terresse Pinnix Womack (Bill) of Belmont, NC; Deborah Pinnix Rochon (Larry) of Stone Mountain, GA; Miriam Pinnix Aikens (Norris) of Reidsville, NC; sons, Carrol L. Pinnix (Patricia) of Thurmont, MD; Anthony C. Pinnix (Brenda) of Bowie, MD; Kenneth M. Pinnix (Inga) of Jacksonville, FL; Robert "Doc" Douglas (Penny) Philadelphia, PA; three sisters, Maggie Moyer Griffin and Frances Moyer Nunley of Eden, NC, Drucilla Millner of Pittsburgh, PA; two brothers, George Moyer (Sallie) of Eden, NC; and Robert Moyer of Reidsville, NC; her cherished grandsons: Jason Ottley; Jonathan Ottley (Jennifer); Jordan Ottley (Summer); Joel Ottley (Kelly); two great granddaughters – Sophia (Joel and Kelly) and Gabrielle (Jonathan and Jennifer); Aunt, Susie Robinson age 103, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends!

The family will receive friends on Friday February 2nd from 5pm to 7pm at Eackles, Spencer & Norton Funeral Home located at 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia 25425, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

The Homegoing Celebration will be on Saturday February 3rd at 1 p.m. at Airborne Church, located at 172 Creative Place, Martinsburg, West Virginia 25401.
