Violet Dean Jenkins, 90, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, WV.
Born August 22, 1931 in Harpers Ferry, WV, she was the daughter of the late Charles Gervis Jackson and Bessie Mae Wilt Jackson.
She was of the Methodist faith and attended Chestnut Hill Church faithfully until her illness did not allow her to attend.
Violet worked in the fruit packing industry, Dixie Narco and was a homemaker. She was a devoted wife and mother, worked hard, enjoyed cooking big meals for the family and loved growing and canning vegetables along with Gerald. She always had a beautiful display of flowers in her yard and everyone in the community complimented her gardens. Violet exercised and did aerobics until her early 80's and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Gerald Miller Jenkins, at home, daughters Donna Mae Piper and husband, Dave, of Harpers Ferry, and Norma Kay McGraw and husband, Farren of Charles Town, sons, Brien Miller Jenkins and wife, Twila of Charles Town and Christopher Ray Jenkins and wife, Zena of Niceville, FL. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Angela Ashbaugh, Michael Jenkins, Matthew Jenkins, Brenton McGraw, Wesley Jenkins and Taylor Jenkins. In addition, she has six great-grandchildren, Nikki Robbins, Joey David Ashbaugh, Austin Jenkins, Callie Jenkins, Brooke and Ryan Jenkins and four great-great grandchildren, Thomas, Amelia, Hilda and Luna Robbins.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Elmer, Charles, Jr., Marvin and Donald Jackson; two sisters, Inez Isabelle Hawk and Doris Marie Jackson and two grand-daughters, Erica Lynn McGraw and Amanda Marie Jenkins.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Rowley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 6-8 pm.
