Wallace “Wally” Martin Carter, 77, of Ranson, WV passed away at Jefferson Medical Center on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Born August 7, 1949 in Fauquier County, VA, he was the son of the late Arthur Carter, Sr. and Louise Carter.

Wally graduated from Douglas High School in Leesburg, VA and went to work for Halltown Paperboard. Wally was a proud Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Wally loved to go to Walmart to do his daily walking. He also spent a lot of time at the Jefferson County Little League Fields and the Leetown Ballfields.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth Carter of Ranson, two children, Brian Carter, Sr. and wife, Andrea of Ranson and Brandon Carter of Ranson, two brothers, Robert Carter of Round Hill, VA and Eldridge “Pee Wee” Carter of Winchester, VA, three grandchildren, Keira Carter, Hayden Carter and Brian “CJ” Carter, Jr., and lots of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur Carter, Jr., and Charles Carter and sister, Dorothy Obanion.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Reverend Bev Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
