Wanda Louise Lemon, 85, of Bolivar, West Virginia passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility, surrounded by her loved ones. She was known as "Granny". She loved everyone she met and never knew a stranger.

Born on June 5, 1940 in Charles Town, WV, she was the daughter of the late Stewart Boyd Wharton and Ella May Wharton.

Wanda was a devout member of the Bolivar United Methodist Church, attending since the mid 1980's. She volunteered steadily in the United Methodist Women's group, the Pollyanna's, which was a group that raised money for the church, and she taught adult Sunday School class and assisted with children's Vacation Bible School. She also served on numerous church councils, including the SPRC, and volunteered for many years at the Jefferson County food pantry.

In her younger years she worked the assembly line at Dixie Narco, creating soda machines, NAPA auto parts as a secretary and Double Day, producing novel books for families.

She enjoyed bird watching and crocheting prayer blankets for those in need and she would take immense joy in donating the surplus blankets to newborns at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.

Wanda is survived by two brothers, John and Charles Wharton; her children, David Mills (wife Shari) Robert Mills, Brenda Grove (husband Dennis), Tammy Boyd (husband Robert) and her step-children, J.B. Lemon and Kathy McCracken (husband Bo). She was blessed to be involved in the lives of her six grandchildren, Brandy, David Lee, Tiffany, Ronnie, Kristen, and Chelsey; and her step-grandchildren, Shelby, Adam, Ronnie, Ashley, Amy and Andy. She had 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald Mills, second husband, Ronald Lemon, and her siblings, Ophelia Ormdorff, Stewart Wharton, Beverly Catlett and Buddy Wharton.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Harry Neidig officiating.

The family will receive friends for a viewing at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 pm.
