William Leslie Custer, 94, of Charles Town, WV passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Hospice of the Panhandle, Inpatient Facility in Kearneysville, WV.
Born January 11, 1928 in Shepherdstown, WV, he was the son of the late Grant Leslie Custer and Nellie Catherine Fraley Custer.
He was a member of the Charles Town Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army, serving during World War ll.
He is survived by five daughters, Cathy DeLawder of Charles Town, Pamela Warriner of Charles Town, Peggy Jenkins of Ranson, Kimberly Custer of Charles Town and Sandra Brown and husband, Kendal of Charles Town, two sons, Thomas Custer and wife Bonnie of Ranson and Terry "Chuck" Custer and Melissa of Charles Town, one brother, Kenneth Custer of Martinsburg, 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Frances, in 2017, daughter, Judy Todd, two grandchildren, Jamie Custer and Faith Jenkins, three great grandchildren, Corey Bowles, Grayson McIntosh and Isabella Wines, one sister, Marie Orsini and three brothers, Charles, Harold and Eugene Custer.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, WV.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 6-8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Charles Town Baptist Church or Hospice of the Panhandle.
