William Albert Nelson, Jr., 68, of Charles Town, WV, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.
He was born November 16, 1942 in Knoxville, MD and was raised by the late Nellie and Ruel Kidwiler.
He was a retired auto technician for over 40 years with Sterling Chevrolet in Sterling, VA. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Charles Town, WV. He coached both men and women's softball for Jefferson County Parks and Rec, Clearbrook and Pikeside. He also played fast pitch softball for Halltown and was an avid Nascar fan.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jenny Harder Nelson, at home; two daughters, Tammy L. Nelson of Martinsburg and Belinda C. Washington and husband, Shawn of Kearneysville; two sons, William "Tootie" Nelson, III of Charles Town, and Richard W. Nelson, Sr. and wife, Bessie of Harpers Ferry, ten grandchildren, Allie Myers, Chanel Harper and husband, Ben, Ashley Taylor and husband, Terry, Richard Nelson, Jr., Haley Nelson, Christan Nelson, Morgan Nelson, Brittany Ford, Holly Nelson, Nikolas Breeden and three great-grandchildren, Damian, Gage and T.J.
He was preceded in death by one son, David L. Nelson.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, US 340 at Halltown Road, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry, WV with Deacon Wayne Cook officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Lutheran Cemetery in Bolivar, WV.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday two hours prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Rick Boyd, Charles Winston, Scott Hough, David Pearl, Dwayne Smith and Mitch Jackson.
