Wilton Lee Hockensmith, 81, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, WV.
Born August 12, 1941 in Harpers Ferry, WV, he was the son of the late Ernest Franklin Hockensmith and Virginia Wilton Ring Hockensmith.
Wilton attended local elementary school, and was a graduate of Harpers Ferry High School, Class of 1959. He also attended Shepherd College.
He retired as Chief Master Sgt. on August 10, 2001 from the WV ANG 167th in Martinsburg, WV with 36 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Ellen Hockensmith, daughter, Jennifer Myers and husband, Doug, son, Wilton Lee Hockensmith, II, four grandchildren, Allison, Reagan, Rachael and Ryleigh Myers, one brother, Charles Hockensmith and wife, Debbie, sister-in-law, Kay Bragg Hockensmith and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Franklin Hockensmith and one sister, Carol Ann Fowler.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Rev. Jeff Childs officiating. Interment will follow in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town, WV.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
